In 2007-2008 we served 372 children, of which 152 were challenged. That same year, our student body was 81% Caucasian, 10% Asian/Pacific Islander, 6% Hispanic, 2% African American and 1% other. The special needs population at Bal Swan includes children with cerebral palsy, autism, mental retardation, motor delays, speech and language delays, hearing impairment, vision impairment, sensory integration problems, physical handicaps and emotional behavioral problems.

In 2007-2008 18% of our families fell within the Free and Reduced Lunch guidelines for being either low-income or very low-income. Free and Reduced Lunch guidelines are used to determine low-income. Each of the past two years we have also had ten students attend Bal Swan through the Colorado Preschool Program (CPP). The CPP students’ tuition is paid through Adams 12 school district.
